With the theme of fresh approaches to high-density urban architecture this specially commissioned exhibition will feature drawings, photographs and scale models of some of the most dramatic new urban architecture in one of the world’s most dynamic cities. Spanning buildings and Vancouver’s stunning urbanism, the exhibition focuses on recent work by architects Bing Thom, James Cheng, engineers Fast + Epp and the dean of Canadian architects, Arthur Erickson.
To accompany the exhibition inside Canada House, the exterior of the building will host a stunning temporary sculptural installation designed by Bing Thom architects and Fast + Epp structural engineers

The Code for Sustainable Homes presents considerable challenges for housing design, and with regard to energy, requires what is effectively a step change in thermal performance. Central to this is the need for enhanced insulation and reduced air leakage. This seminar will focus on a range of fabric and energy issues, in the context of masonry and concrete solutions, for meeting code requirements. Key areas covered include: air leakage, wall thickness, enhanced insulation and the requirement for renewable energy. |
