Association for Preservation Technology International (APT)
 http://www.apti.org/

According to the site, "the Association for Preservation Technology International (APT) is the premier cross-disciplinary organisation dedicated to promoting the best technology for conserving historic structures and their settings. US-based but with members in more than thirty countries, APT connects a network of architects, conservators, tradespeople, consultants, planners, curators, landscape architects, engineers, developers, educators, engineers, historians, apprentices and students". The site contains the information you would expect, including up-to-date details of publications, conferences, membership and local Chapters (branches), plus a useful 'Resources' section with reports, archives and a page of (mainly US and Canada-related) preservation links. Meanwhile, the appearance and legibility of the site is vastly improved following a recent redesign. [GAS, 24 Aug 2006].

Association of Gardens Trusts
 http://www.gardenstrusts.org.uk/

The Association of Gardens Trusts is a UK national organisation representing the growing number of County Gardens Trusts that are actively engaged in conserving, researching, documenting and caring for the country's heritage of parks, gardens and designed landscapes. The site is a comprehensive resource, with sections covering (among other things) community activities, education, useful publications, and details of County Gardens Trusts. There is also an up-to-date events listing, and a helpful section of links to related organisations. However, a more consistent interface would improve the site's navigation and legibility - at the moment almost every page uses a different format. [GAS, 7 Nov 2006].

International Association for People-Environment Studies (IAPS)
 http://www.iaps-association.org/

IAPS "works to facilitate communication on the relationships between people and their physical environment", and describes itself as "the forum for scholars who have an interest in an interdisciplinary exchange and in the study of the transactions and interrelationships between people and their socio-physical surroundings (including built and natural environments) and the relation of this field to other social and biological sciences and to the environmental professions" - thus, members of IAPS represent a diversity of professions, including architects, city and regional planners, landscape architects, interior designers and psychologists. Features of the site include the history, aims and objectives of IAPS; background on the notion of 'people-environment studies'; details of the association's boards, networks and members; news, events and publications; and a useful page of links. Though the design and navigation of the site is generally good, the main text throughout the site is too small to read comfortably. [GAS, 16 Sep 2006].
