PVD Brass range offers solution to tarnishing

Bernards Door Furniture Direct has recently released a new range of PVD Brass door handles.

Brass door furniture is usually lacquered to prevent the finish from tarnishing. If the lacquer is damaged or breaks down, tarnishing will soon start and the brass will become dull and discoloured. This is particularly likely to happen on door furniture exposed to harsh exterior environments. The lacquer can of course be removed with an appropriate paint stripper and the brass cleaned up with a metal polish. However, even after all this work, regular maintenance will be required without the lacquer coating.

The best way to solve this problem is to use Physical Vapour Deposition Brass (PVD Brass). This is made using a process whereby molecules of durable metals are deposited onto the brass surface. The microscopic layer protects the brass from becoming discoloured and tarnishing even when exposed to pollution, sunlight and coastal areas.

A spokesman from Merseyside-based Bernards Door Furniture Direct told Sapling.info:

"Manufacturers are so confident in this type of product they offer guarantees of between ten to twenty-five years on the finish.

"As you would expect, this type of product has traditionally been expensive and many pieces still are. However, we have recently introduced a range of PVD Brass at a significantly lower price, in fact getting close to lacquered brass prices. We see this futuristic product as giving customers a golden opportunity to invest in their properties and make their front doors the envy of their streets. PVD brass has a deeper richer shine than polished brass, and the images above show the difference."
