Founded in the UK in 1997, the TPS describes itself as "a society for the benefit of the community, to facilitate, develop and promote knowledge, understanding and best practice in transport planning and provide a focus for all those engaged in it, from a full range of relevant backgrounds and other professional affiliations". The site features an up-to-date listing of diary dates, news, information about the society (history, membership, activities), and a small section of links to transport portal sites. The 'Library' section includes an excellent collection of documents (including responses to consultation papers and TPS Bursary Papers), which can be downloaded in PDF format. The site itself has an attractive neat design and is well laid out, benefitting from the effective use of white space. [GAS, 23 Aug 2005].
