The Urban Design Group (UDG) was formed in 1978 to bring together people involved in the decision making, creation and use of the urban environment. The Group provides a forum for independent debate on urban design issues and is a founding member of the Urban Design Alliance. The UDG site has some useful features, including an up-to-date news and events section, an 'open forum' comments section, urban design job vacancies, regional information, and details of publications. Visitors can also search the Urban Design Source Book, a directory of practices, commercial organisations, and educational establishments with urban design courses who are members of the UDG. The site has enjoyed a recent redesign, which has greatly improved its appearance and functionality. [GAS, 3 Apr 2006].
