British Urban Regeneration Association (BURA)
 http://www.bura.org.uk/

BURA was formed in 1990 to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, experience and information for the emerging regeneration sector, and is now a leading independent organisation in its field. This professional-looking site has useful sections covering membership, an up-to-date events listing, and best practice awards, plus a publications section with back issues of the BURA newsletter. A subdomain now covers the Regenerator Workforce Campaign, a major new initiative to tackle workforce development issues in the regeneration sector. [GAS, 10 Dec 2006].

Institute of Urban Landscape and Quality of Life (IMPUQV), Barcelona
 http://www.bcn.es/paisatgeurba/

The Institute of Urban Landscape and Quality of Life (IMPUQV) in Barcelona describes itself as "a local autonomous organism with a commercial and service character". It was constituted in 1997, but has its origins in 1986, when the City Hall launched the campaign 'Barcelona, posa't guapa' (Let's Embellish Barcelona). Through the provision of grants, the Institute aims to promote, encourage and sponsor the maintenance and improvement of the city's landscape heritage. The site itself has been redesigned and much improved, with comprehensive details of the Institute's work, and other useful features such as a section of related links. The site is now available in English, as well as Catalan and Spanish. Flash is required for some parts of the site. [GAS, 7 Jul 2006].

National Charrette Institute
 http://www.charretteinstitute.org/

The US-based National Charrette Institute describes itself as "a nonprofit educational institution that helps communities achieve healthy transformation through collaborative planning processes that harness the talents and energies of all interested parties to create and support a buildable plan". According to the site, the Institute aims to achieve this through training, research and facilitation - "teaching the art and science of the Charrette and the Dynamic Planning process; advancing the field of community involvement; and facilitating collaborative problem solving to promote healthy communities". Features of the site include the obvious "What is a charette?" (essentially a creative and intense collaborative planning process); sections introducing the concepts of 'healthy communities' and 'dynamic planning'; and information about the Institute's mission and values, people and programmes, including a monthly newsletter. The richest part of the site is its resources section (listed under 'Tools for you'), which includes a good page of links, NCI publications and PDF presentations to download. The site is well laid-out with a professional if rather sombre appearance; the addition of more images would help communicate the sense of 'creativity' which is portrayed as such an important part of the Charette process.
