This website is quite neatly designed and organised, if a little texty, but it does offers masses of useful information. Among the site's features are details of the annual Heritage Open Days and Civic Trust Awards; information about the work of the Civic Trust Regeneration Unit (CTRU); and a section for civic societies nationwide, with useful links to all those civic societies with their own websites. Ecosustainable Hub describes itself as a "one-stop connection to resources and tools on ecology, environment and sustainability... facilitating cooperation, networking and ethical developments". As well as information about its mission and scope, Ecosustainable Hub features an excellent section of project links; an Environment Sustainability Exchange, with tools, products, services and links; a forum section, including a message board; and the main links section featuring resources and tools on ecology, environment and sustainability. The site is slickly designed, and the use of images for navigation is an effective device. If there is a criticism, it is that sometimes there is almost too much information to digest at once - nonetheless, this is certainly an invaluable site for anyone interested in the environment, ecology or sustainability, awarded a Sapling Commendation. The Environment Agency is the leading public organisation for protecting and improving the environment in England and Wales, with responsibilities which include regulating industry, maintaining flood defences and water resources, and improving wildlife habitats. The site is organised broadly into sections covering 'your environment', 'business and industry', 'science and research' and 'jobs', with additional sections covering regional issues, and specific topics such as air quality, flood and waste. Overall, this is a nice looking site, offering access to a wide variety of environmental information, tools, resources and features. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. [GAS, 23 Jan 2006].

Features include an excellent case studies section, with illustrated examples of where Grasscrete has been used in practice; a helpful questions and answers page; and a section of brochures and technical guides available to download. Based in Hollywood, California, Plasmatic Concepts is a multi-disciplinary design firm run by architect Sarah Lorenzen and graphic designer David Hartwell. According to the site, the firm's work "spans the diverse industries of animation, interactive media, urban research, architecture and experience design. While we have many interests, we share the ability to seamlessly integrate design and technology to create beautiful environments". The site is attractively designed, featuring profiles of Lorenzen and Hartwell, and comprehensive, illustrated coverage of their work. Effective use of multimedia is made throughout the site, though the constant whooshing between one section and the next may start to make you feel dizzy. [GAS, 23 Jan 2006].

With architecture.com providing a more general resource "all about architecture", riba.org focuses on the activities of RIBA itself, including extensive information about membership (practice, CBD, directory of existing members, etc.) as well as a 'members only' area. Elsewhere, the Institute's 'news and views' are represented by a helpful series of press releases and policy documents, while those who are interested can find out about the latest RIBA competitions.
