CL:AIRE - Contaminated Land: Applications in Real Environments
 http://www.claire.co.uk/

CL:AIRE describes itself as "providing a link between the main players in contaminated land remediation in the UK, to catalyse the development of cost-effective methods of investigating and remediating contaminated land in a sustainable way." The organisation is a public/private partnership involving government policy makers, regulators, industry, research organisations and technology developers. The site is full of information, with sections covering stakeholders, projects and news, plus an excellent links page. Elegantly designed, a recent redesign has removed the site's reliance on frames, vastly enhancing its overall appearance and usability. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. [GAS, 4 Jul 2006].

Debby's Garden Links
 http://www.debbysgardenlinks.co.uk/

Debby's Garden Links describes itself as "one of the UK's most comprehensive gardening links sites", and it is certainly an excellent source of information. The range of links is extensive, organised into categories such as Plants Index, Garden Centres/Nurseries, Gardener's Homepages, Gardens to Visit, Societies, and Supplies and Services, while other features include a useful page of 'hints and tips' and an up-to-date listing of shows and events. The site's interface is neat and well-organised, with Debby's personality shining through to give the site a friendly and accessible air. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. [GAS, 4 Jul 2006].

Housingnet.co.uk
 http://www.housingnet.co.uk/

Housingnet calls itself "a social housing data collection and distribution website", and it is certainly a useful place to visit. The site is well organised, centred around the Blue Pages, a complete database of all known RSLs (Housing Associations) in the UK and the offshoot of this section, the Address Book, a downloadable desk top resource of all RSLs and Local Government Offices. Elsewhere, an extensive links directory provides access to many other housing and built environment-related sites. As a site independent of any big organisation, the breadth and quality of Housingnet's coverage is particularly impressive. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. [GAS, 4 Jul 2006].

Planning Resource
 http://www.planningresource.co.uk/

Launched in January 2004, Planning Resource seeks to combine the strengthes of Planning magazine (replacing the previous Planning website), Regeneration & Renewal magazine, Axis magazine, Development Control Services Ltd (DCS) and the RTPI. It aims to become a one-stop shop for the planning community, and though some areas of the site are restricted to paying subscribers only (RTPI members get full access), there are also plenty of free areas to enjoy. An up-to-date 'News' section (subscribers only) brings together planning, regeneration and housing-related stories from the three different magazines, while the 'Jobs & Careers' section claims to be "the most comprehensive planning/regeneration jobs site available". Meanwhile, the excellent 'Documents' section pulls together good practice examples, documents referred to in Planning and Regeneration & Renewal, and links to planning policy and regional strategy documents, as well as providing a comprehensive annotated links directory. Elsewhere, the 'Online Community' part of the site renders Planning Resource as a place for interaction as well as information, with a well-used events diary and discussion forum. Visually, the site as a whole is neatly laid out and easy to navigate, if a little on the text-heavy side in parts. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. [GAS, 4 Jul 2006].

Gallery Tokyo.com
 --NEW URL-- http://www.gallerytokyo.com/

Formerly part of the TS B/W Visual Portfolio' site, Gallery Tokyo.com is a black and white photographic portfolio for the Japanese photographer Tatsuyo Sato. This is a beautiful website - clearly and stylishly designed - which makes it both easily navigable and a pleasure to use. Sato's photographs are exquisite; they are visually striking and full of energy, often depicting street scenes and slices of life and a good selection of them are featured here. A biography section is useful in revealing a little more about the artist, while a helpful links page lists other art, photography and culture-related sites. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. Cultural Industries Quarter Agency
 http://www.ciq.org.uk/

The Cultural Industries Quarter (CIQ) Agency was created in 2000 "to maximise the potential of the CIQ and help Sheffield's creative industries grow by working with a wide range of local partners". Today, the CIQ is an area of around three quarters of a square mile in the heart of Sheffield city centre, "home to the most concentrated cluster of creative production in the region". As well as background about the agency, the site offers news, events and coverage of current projects, and has a very professional air; however, the system of navigation is unnecessarily complex and counter-intuitive.
