Specifier Magazine is a well respected and well established Australian print-based architecture publication that has recently gone online. The site aims to help architects find product suppliers, and product suppliers to find architects; to encourage the use of green products; and to be a source of design inspiration, news and industry information. The site contains full text and images from the current and past issues of Specifier Magazine, including upcoming international projects and award-winning Australian architecture, green design projects, exhibition reviews and architect profiles. An extensive news section covers the latest openings and happenings, while the architecture and interiors product directory highlights suppliers of green products, and contains downloadable brochure libraries. There is also a searchable database of Australian design and consulting professionals, with more content being added to the site every week. The site is also beautifully presented, with clear navigation, lovely images, and effective use of white space. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. [GAS, 24 Aug 2007].

DOTARS, the Australian Department of Transport and Regional Services, provides policy advice to the Ministers for the Transport and Regional Services portfolio and delivers a variety of programs on behalf of the Commonwealth Government. The Department also conducts research, analysis and safety investigations; provides safety information and advice based upon these investigations; and performs regulatory functions. The DOTARS website is clearly arranged into colour-coded sections covering the key areas of interest - Transport, Regional Development, Territories of Australia and Local Government, with a further section including background about the Department itself. Overall, the layout of the site is excellent, and it succeeds in being a comprehensive and valuable resource. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. [GAS, 12 Aug 2005].

Created by Ian Evans from Australia, this useful and well-maintained guide is aimed at anyone restoring, renovating, remodelling or maintaining an old house, heritage building or traditional architecture. The site provides general information about building conservation, together with directories of suppliers of products and services for Australia, New Zealand, the UK, USA, Canada and South Africa. An e-mail information service is provided, together with a page of links to many other conservation and heritage sites worldwide, a section of frequently asked questions, and a list of useful books organised by country. One particularly innovative feature of the site is a listing of nearly 120 essays on various aspects of restoring old houses - unlike the rest of the site, access to these is not free of charge, but they can be ordered for a reasonable price. Visually, the site is starting to look a little dated - it would be good to tighten up the layout and refresh the site's overall appearance. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. [GAS, 6 Apr 2009].

Ecosustainable Hub describes itself as a "one-stop connection to resources and tools on ecology, environment and sustainability... facilitating cooperation, networking and ethical developments". As well as information about its mission and scope, Ecosustainable Hub features an excellent section of project links; an Environment Sustainability Exchange, with tools, products, services and links; a forum section, including a message board; and the main links section featuring resources and tools on ecology, environment and sustainability. The site is slickly designed, and the use of images for navigation is an effective device. If there is a criticism, it is that sometimes there is almost too much information to digest at once - nonetheless, this is certainly an invaluable site for anyone interested in the environment, ecology or sustainability, awarded a Sapling Commendation. ArchiQuotes.info does exactly what it says on the tin, seeking to "bring you inspiring quotations of architects or philosophers right to your desktop", together with other enjoyable features such as architectural caricatures. Recently redesigned and restructured, I can't help feeling that the site has lost some of its previous charm; though the amount of content seems to have increased, navigation around the site is complex and confusing - in short, the new layout of the site seems just too clever for its own good.
