Founded in 1871, Verity and Beverley is a firm of architects with a long and important history. As in-house architects for Paramount, Frank Verity and Samuel Beverley designed many of the company's cinemas, both in Britain (such as the at-risk Paramount Theatre in Newcastle upon Tyne) and beyond (the Paramount Opéra in Paris). Today, the practice is based in Tetbury, Gloucestershire, with particular expertise in the re-use and conservation of historic buildings. The company's website is attractive and elegant, with features including a brief history of the company, information about its services and expertise, and illustrated examples of the company's work. IOTA supplies design-led products for the contemporary garden. All products are designed in-house, and are exclusive to IOTA, with ranges including natural stone planters, contemporary garden art in stainless steel and acrylic, and water features. Customers include industry-leading garden centres, design professionals and contractors, and IOTA also sells direct to the public through its site. IOTA's site is extremely visual, and also deceptively large. Each product category, and each individual product, is represented by an Image Gallery, with up to ten in-situ product images per gallery. An additional gallery on the home page highlights the breadth of IOTA's product offer, and is constantly updated with new product and seasonal offers. The site's Commercial Enquiries section is currently under development, but will shortly include technical specification sheets on each product range, as well as a range of download options. Highly visual and rapidly-evolving, IOTA's website is dynamic yet elegant - definitely worth a visit. [GAS, 29 Jan 2008].

The Centre for Regional Economic Development (CRED) was founded in 1996 and is part of the University of Cumbria's Business School in Carlisle. According to its site, "CRED conducts academic and commercial research around the broad theme of economic development. We work in partnership with many of the councils, agencies and other organisations responsible for the economic development of the county of Cumbria, but also engage in research at regional, national and international levels". The site is an informative resource, with sections covering news, staff, academic publications, research projects and seminars. Visitors can also view past and present issues of the Cumbria Economic Bulletin, download a series of documents offering a brief overview of the Cumbrian economy, and access CRED reports via the 'Download' section. Kingdom Interiors' neatly designed website is intended to help users "find gorgeous fabrics, trimmings, wallpapers and accessories to create your own interiors scheme", with products and samples available to order online. The site's developers have sought to create a resource that is "very different from the usual online fabric stores", covering a wide range of fabric companies, and including a section of press releases from relevant suppliers. A comprehensive section of design advice adds extra value, while the inventive 'mood board' lets visitors create their own combinations of fabrics, wallpapers and trimmings. [GAS, 28 Jan 2008].

The Friends were founded in 1957 to save disused churches and chapels from demolition, decay and unsympathetic conversion, for public access and the benefit of the nation. The organisation now own 38 such buildings, half in England and half in Wales. Benefiting from a clean and elegant interface, the website gives a broad background to the work of the Friends in England and Wales, including an extensive early history and details of up and coming events. Primarily, however, the site gives details of the churches that the Friends own, each with its own page including a short history and photographs. A worthwhile links page also features. The High Peak Community Housing website provides information about and access to its services, ranging from sheltered housing to an independent housing and homeless advice service. The aim is for the website to be highly accessible whilst providing as much functionality as possible to tenants, and it appears to succeed in this regard - the site's interface is clean and slick, including newsletters in PDF format and all the organisation's publications (such as annual reports and Tenant Handbooks), with advanced site search and text resizing to facilitate usability. Brighton-based Andy Sturgeon Garden Design is "a well-established professional practice offering a comprehensive landscape and garden service", and the firm's site - attractively designed using Flash - is enjoyable and easy to navigate. It benefits from some good quality content, including a company profile and a stunningly illustrated portfolio section featuring country gardens, roof gardens, town gardens, show gardens (the latter featuring the practice's exhibits at the Chelsea Flower Show), lighting and sculpture. The site also includes news and links sections, and a profile of Andy Sturgeon himself, known to many from his TV appearances and regular newspaper columns. Awarded a Sapling Commendation. Barr Gazetas is a London-based interior design and architecture consultancy with international experience in architecture and masterplanning. The site is nicely designed and straightforward to navigate, with the information you would expect about the company, its services and its clients. One of the most useful features of the site is its excellent projects section, including many examples of Barr Gazetas' work across eight 'project sectors' - masterplans; office new build, refurbishments and fit-outs; hotels; bars and restaurants; residential and retail. Each case study is well-illustrated with high quality drawings and photographs, supplemented by appropriate annotation. Elsewhere on the site, three urban design papers, written by partner Alistair Barr, add further value. Overall, this is a rich and informative site, awarded a Sapling Commendation.
