Underground History - Disused Stations on London's Underground

The site's author Hywel Williams explains that "since moving to live near London a few years ago, one of my interests has been the London Underground, one of the world's oldest and busiest underground railway networks. I'm not a train spotter by any means, but I find the history and background of London's subterranean railway fascinating. One of the things I find most interesting is the changing history of the railway, of which there is still much hidden evidence". 'Underground History' is dedicated to that changing history, and is a rich and fascinating site to explore. Copiously illustrated throughout, sections cover some of the abandoned 'deep level' and 'cut and cover' stations and track sections, while visitors can also find out about Kingsway Tram Underpass, Deep Level Shelters, 'More Hidden Bits', and the fictitious Walford East station found in the BBC TV show EastEnders.
