The Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment is an educational charity established by The Prince of Wales "to teach and demonstrate in practice those principles of traditional urban design and architecture which put people and the communities of which they are part at the centre of the design process". The Foundation's new site is attractively designed, and enlivened by appropriate use of images. As well as information about the Foundation and its services, sections provide details of short courses and conferences, an introduction to the Foundation's projects, and a short list of links. Urban Design Group

The Urban Design Group (UDG) was formed in 1978 to bring together people involved in the decision making, creation and use of the urban environment. The Group provides a forum for independent debate on urban design issues and is a founding member of the Urban Design Alliance. The UDG site has some useful features, including an up-to-date news and events section, an 'open forum' comments section, urban design job vacancies, regional information, and details of publications. Visitors can also search the Urban Design Source Book, a directory of practices, commercial organisations, and educational establishments with urban design courses who are members of the UDG. The site has enjoyed a recent redesign, which has greatly improved its appearance and functionality. [GAS, 3 Apr 2006].
