Atelier27 is a Spanish design consultancy firm, with expertise and involvement in various aspects of the building process, including architecture, urban design, project management and interior design. "Commitment to design excellence" is the company's operational motto, and this is reflected in its stylish and beautifully presented home page, replete with a classical soundtrack. However, the site's content - when you work out where it is (by clicking on the '+info' link) - is very limited, with basic information about the firm (in Spanish), and a small section of related links. Based in Lancashire and Sussex, BroomeJenkins are design consultants with "a growing expertise in the areas of urban design and public realm design". From street furniture and wayfinding to structures and environments, BroomeJenkins argue that they "design products but are not product designers... design structures and environments but are not architects". Instead, the company occupies what it describes as "a vast space between product and architecture, designing for manufacture, developing information systems and spaces for people to work and live in, pass through and enjoy". BroomeJenkins' site broadly succeeds in its aim to be "simple, clear and effective", with a neat and clean layout that affords clear signposting to staff profiles, client links and other relevant websites. However, much of the interesting content is slightly hidden away in the resources section, including a series of downloadable project case studies, magazine editorials, newsletter issues, and the all-important company brochure. The site's content is extraordinarily rich and inventive, with a fascinating and well-annotated portfolio, an interesting research section, a profile of the architect, and a very good page of links. URBED describes itself as "a leading independent research and consultancy firm specialising in the fields of urban regeneration, local economic development, sustainability and urban design". URBED's website is rather good, with plenty of well-illustrated information about their projects, details of published reports, and a comprehensive 'practice profile'.
